My Journey

Welcome to my journey through the dynamic intersections of energy and environmental economics with a perspective on political and developmental economics. As a researcher, my path is defined by a passionate commitment to fostering a sustainable future amidst global challenges.

Academic Foundation

My journey began with a dedication to academic rigor, pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Pretoria. This journey led to contributions such as "Examining the Interlinkage Between CO2 Emissions and Inclusive Human Development: Unveiling the Significance of Effective Institutions," presented at prestigious conferences like the IAEE Annual Conference in Turkey 2024. I have also presented at the IAEE Annual Conference in Saudi Arabia in 2023 on "The Role of Institutions on the Global Economy - Emissions Nexus," the 2021 IAEE Annual Conference on "Does Institutional Quality Affect Electricity Supply? A Panel SUR Estimation," and the SAAEE Conference in 2019 on "South Africa’s Sectoral Electricity Demand Forecast: Comparison with IRP 2019 Demand Forecast." In 2022, I presented my team's work at COP27 on "No Limits of Decarbonization Technologies: Why Decarbonization Technologies Should Be Accessible to Everyone."

Teaching and Mentorship

In parallel with my research, I've enriched my academic journey through roles as a lecturer and lecturer assistant. These experiences have not only refined my teaching methodologies but also fostered collaborative learning environments crucial for nurturing future scholars.

Global Engagements and Leadership

My journey expanded globally through transformative engagements: - Awarded a student scholarship for the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) Annual Conference in 2023. - Led the University of Pretoria's team to victory at the BRICS Youth Energy Outlook 2022, presenting results at COP27 under SDG7. - Chosen as one of 25 global youth ambassadors for the IAEE, advocating for inclusive energy transitions. - Contributed as a member of the South African BRICS Youth Energy Outlook development team, achieving significant recognition in 2020.

Teamwork and Impactful Research

Throughout my journey, I've had the opportunity to collaborate with wonderful teams and impactful researchers. These collaborations have been instrumental in broadening my perspectives and refining my research approach, particularly in understanding the complexities of governance in sustainable development within energy economics.

Insights and Aspirations

Through these experiences, I've gained profound insights into the role of governance in sustainable development, particularly in energy economics. Looking forward, my aspiration is to continue this journey as a Postdoctoral Researcher, focusing on governance's impact on inward FDI and energy inequality. This role allows me to conduct cutting-edge research, supervise graduate students, and engage in project management to enhance team and project skills.
